Christian Kluxen is Assistant Conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, a position he was awarded in May 2010 after an audition in front of the orchestra. Over the following three seasons he will conduct the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in a variety of concerts and will also play an active role in engaging audiences and communities throughout Scotland.

In his native country of Denmark, Christian Kluxen has worked with all the regional orchestras and over the following seasons he will continue his guest appearances with the Danish orchestras, such as South Jutland Symphony Orchestra and Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and subscription concerts with both Odense Symphony Orchestra and Copenhagen Philharmonic.
After a successful and critically acclaimed concert in 2010 with the orchestra of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Christian Kluxen returned to the orchestra in 2011 to conduct Strauss "Ein Heldenleben". In 2010 he also worked with Philharmonie Südwestfalen, Germany, which resulted in immediate re-invitations for subscription concerts in 2011 and 2012. Later in 2012 he will furthermore have his debut with Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra in Norway.

From 2003 to 2010 Christian Kluxen held the position as Music Director of the City of Copenhagen Youth Symphony Orchestra. During his tenure he led the orchestra in numerous tours throughout Europe and performed at international festivals such as the ”Neubrandenburger Jugendorchestertreffen” in Germany and twice at the International Festival of European Youth Orchestras, held in Tuscany and Provence.

Christian Kluxen has served as assistant for his mentor Giordano Bellincampi on major opera productions in Denmark and abroad. In 2012 he will have his own debut at the Danish National Opera with a new production of Mozart’s ”Don Giovanni”.

Born in 1981 in Copenhagen, Christian Kluxen began his musical training at 7 and started conducting at the age of 15. He was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and later studied conducting at the Zürich University of the Arts with Professor Johannes Schlaefli. He has also participated in masterclasses with Jorma Panula, Neeme Järvi, Paavo Järvi and Bernard Haitink.
In 2010 he was selected to become a member of the "Dirigentenforum" of the German Music Council.

Christian Kluxen has twice been the recipient of the ”Arne Hammelboe Education Scholarship”, given by the Danish Conductors Association, and in 2007 he was awarded the prestigious ”Jacob Gade Grand Prize” to fund one years studies of conducting in New York City. In 2011 the Danish Richard Wagner Society awarded Christian Kluxen the Bayreuth Bursary to visit the legendary festival in the summer.
